Nalanda Bookstore – Taj Hotel, Gateway of India
Nicely air-conditioned place to relax when you are in the area of the Taj. It also has many books from abroad that you might not be able to find at other stores. Prices are a bit more expensive than other shops.
Fort Book stalls –
In the Fort/Flora Fountain area, there are rows and rows of booksellers along the road, selling pirate copies of anything and everything. Bargain hard and check the book carefully to make sure it has all of the pages!
Colaba Causeway –
Several good traveler oriented bookshops. These shops will usually have all the travel guides and India related books.
Neighborhood stalls
In your own neighborhood, look out for small individual book stalls. With these bookstalls you can usually buy a book very cheaply with the intention that you will return it – similar to checking out books at a library. When you return the book you will get half of your money back. Great way to read a lot cheaply!
Landmark - Huge selection of books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, computer games and software, stationary, toys, gifts, etc., etc. Infinity Mall, Andheri (W). (Lokhandwala area).
